Turquoise, sterling, coral and other natural materials combine for a Southwestern look reminiscent of Northern New Mexico.

Important:  A word about Native American artisans

I am not a Native American.  Like many people in this country, I may well share a tiny amount of Native American blood, but have not been reared in the Native American culture.    I have, however, endeavored to incorporate the teachings of the various Peoples' spiritual paths into my way of life and to use Native American design as the inspiration for some of my work.

I encourage everyone who visits an area with Native American artisans to purchase directly from them.  When in Taos, please visit the Taos Pueblo.  For information before your visit, go to http://www.taospueblo.com .  If you see Matthew, tell him I said "Hi!"

Turtle Island Necklace

18" long, sterling silver, faceted rainbow jasper and faceted labradorite beads with lots of blue flash, secured with wire wrap, and a beautiful sterling silver Turtle charm.  Charm is made in New Mexico by Native American artisans.  Secured with a sterling silver toggle clasp.

In one of the creation stories told by the Cheyenne, neighbors of the Lakota, before people lived on the earth it was covered by water. The Creator wanted to use mud from under the water to make solid ground, but needed a place to put the mud on top of the water. Turtle rose to the top of the water to carry the mud that became earth. To this day, turtles walk very slowly because they carry the weight of the world on their backs. Some Native Americans refer to the earth as Turtle Island.
